Activist and whistleblower of united states military war crimes in Iraq, Chelsea Manning is a modern-day anti-war activist. Manning disclosed classified documents and video footage of US military warplanes targeting and killing journalists and civilians. Manning passed on 100,000s of documents to Wikileaks, which then became public. Manning's actions help change the narrative and public discourse of the Iraq war. Trans activist, declaring a request for an official gender change during US prosecution. Remembering and supporting soldiers means supporting soldiers who decided to do the right thing, speak out, and at-risk themselves, even in the face of unjustified confinement, speaking truth to power. The color scheme in this portrait is an attempt to celebrate life and the life Chelsea Manning lives.
